How To Change An Instrument In Musescore

Choose your musical instrument

You need an instrument with multiple channels. For case, violin has three channels assigned to information technology: one for each of arco, pizzicato, and tremolo.

To do this,

  1. correct-click on an empty place in the first measure of the score.
  2. select Staff/Part Properties...
  3. click on the Change Instrument... push
  4. select, for example, violin

Set the voices to separate channels

  1. Click on the get-go note of the part.
  2. In the main palette, select Text > Staff text.
  3. In the element inspector (for the staff text) click the Properties button.
  4. Set the voices to unlike channels. For example, Voice one to Arco and Voice 2 to Pizzicato.

In the mixer, modify the sound for each channel

  1. With the Violin (for example) slider selected, click on the correct-pointer at the top to brandish the different channels.
  2. Click on a channel slider and change the Audio setting to the instrument you desire to hear.

Step 0: set up the score

Here is a new score, created with a thou staff. The instrument (by default) is piano. The upper notes are Vox i; the lower notes are Voice 2.

Step 1: Open up the "Staff/Parts Properties" dialog box

At the kickoff of the score, correct click in a blank expanse of the staff whose voices yous'd like to change instruments.

Stride 2: Change the instrument for the (entire) staff.

  1. In the "Part Properties" department of the "Staff/Function Properties" dialog box, click on the "Alter Musical instrument..." push button.

  1. Select a new instrument.

The instrument selected must be ane with multiple channels assigned to information technology. This instance uses Violin, which has three channels — enough for the two voices to exist reassigned.

  1. Click "OK" on both dialog boxes.

Pace 3: Set Voice ane and Voice 2 to different channels

  1. Click on (i.eastward., select) the first notation of Vox ane.
  2. Add a Staff Text past clicking on the Text menu in the Master Palette and clicking "Staff Text".

  1. With the "Staff Text" selected, click on "Staff Text > Properties" in the Chemical element Inspector.

  1. On the "Modify Channel" tab of the "Staff Text Properties" dialog box, ready each voice to a different channel.

In this case, only Vocalism one and Vocalism two demand to be set. In the image below, Voice 1 has already been ready (to the "Arco" channel), and Vocalization ii is about to be fix (to the "Pizzicato" aqueduct).

Step 4: Use the Mixer to prepare each channel to a different audio

  1. In the mixer, discover the slider for the instrument to be reset (Violin in this example), and click the right-pointing pointer at the top of the command.

  1. Select a aqueduct by clicking on its slider, and use the Mixer's "Audio" dropdown list to change the audio used when that channel (i.e., its associated Vocalism) is played.

Step 5: Repeat the previous step for each channel that has been assigned to a Voice in the score.

Pace 6: Play the score

Each voice volition now sound as a separate instrument.
